This Week's Happenings...

It's been a busy week here at Avicraft wool as we prepare to do the big Summer Switcharound and stock take next week!  We will be in chaos as we bring out all the summer yarns and cottons, and put away the more wintery yarns until next winter.  The shop will be open as usual during the week but please bear with us about the appearance whilst the Switcharound is going on!

We have also had a gorgeous Rico delivery this week.  If you love vintage shades then these new colours of the popular Creative Sport DK will be right up your street!  It's one of Sharon's favourite yarns because of the way it knits up and washes.  Rico are now selling this yarn in 50g balls rather than 100g  but the price works out roughly the same ( 15p difference).  Its a 50% cotton/acrylic blend with an impressive 145m on a 50g ball.  It also has standard DK tension of 22stitches and 28 rows for 10cm so can be used for most DK patterns!

We also have unpacked these 2 fresh summery shades of a new yarn, Creative Melange Lace, which we will be making up into kits with the pattern for the lovely wrap or shawl pictured.  Creative Melange Lace is unusual as it is a 95% cotton (5%polyester) lace weight yarn.  We have 2 speckled shades to choose from, a lovely zesty green or a classic neutral with mochas and greys.

We also have something unusual for the embroiderists (if that is what you call someone who enjoys embroidery) among you!  These great printed tablecloth kits with all threads included in a variety of floral designs, ready for you to stitch a lovely addition to your home, or a great gift!

That's all for now as I'm hoping to finish the parts of my chicken made from a King Cole pattern using their  Tinsel yarn before the great switcheroo next week.  I'm finding it much more enjoyable than I had first thought actually, the Tinsel yarn is surprisingly soft, and once you trust that you are making stitches even if you can't see them progress is quite swift!
