What a beautiful week we've been having weather wise! Can't believe last week I was saying how cold it had become and yet this week I feel like I'm melting! You can never double guess the English weather! In this heat, it can seem like knitting and crochet are out, but there are things you can do to still take part in our favourite hobby. Knitting small items like baby items or socks always works as nothing heavy is sitting on your lap. Crochet small items like amigurumi also works for the same reason. My favourite though is knitting cotton as it doesn't tend to stick to the hands as you're knitting. Check out this small selection of our cotton summer patterns! Definitely a few patterns there I wouldn't mind knitting up for myself or my daughter! In other news, progress on the blanket crochet along which we are hosting starting next Thursday the first June is going well. Sharon is now designing how the blocks will go together and an edging! I have another sneak peak for you! Yarn packs with the yarn you need and the beginning instalment of the pattern will be available from Thursday in store, through mail order and the website. We are also hosting a group on Thursday evening from 7 for anyone who wants to start the crochet along together. Tuition will be available for free on the night for people who have purchased the yarn pack from us. The pattern will come in 4 parts and be released on the First of July, August and September at the crochet along group that evening. If you choose not to come to the group (but we hope you do!) we will email you the pattern after the group has been finished.
That's all for now, have a lovely weekend, and I hope it does involve knitting or crochet in some shape or form! Jen ~x~

Hello! I've just logged on to the computer to find last week's post hasn't posted, so rather than delete it I'll post it and follow up with another blog post later today! Where has Spring gone?! I was just about down to a single long sleeve t-shirt and now I'm back on the winter wardrobe! Not that I'm complaining about wearing my beautiful hand knits of course. I need to knit myself some more summer tops, or thin flowy accessories. I may well do the Rico pattern I talked about a few weeks ago with the laceweight cotton to wear when it warms up a bit! Yarn shop day seems so far away now, but it was such a lovely day! Thank you to everyone who came by to see us in the shop, bought things from our sale, indulged in the gorgeous cakes and bought raffle tickets! Don't forget, the sale and raffle continues until the end of May, so you have plenty of time to come and get yourself some bargains! There is still plenty to choose from in our £1 and £1.50 boxes! In other news, the start of the crochet blanket-along is fast approaching, with the start date of the 1st June. Sharon has designed such a beautiful pattern for us to follow, I'm so excited to start it! It's called Granny's Log Cabin, and uses 15 colours in 3 colour groups (blues, neutrals and pink/purples) along with some shades that go across the colour groups. It uses the classic granny square as well as a motif design block to give a really unusual blanket. It is suitable for the beginner as it uses only granny squares and double crochet stitches, and if you get stuck you can bring it into the shop for help. Look out for more details coming out over the next two weeks, but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek! That bottom block is so lovely! I can't wait, hopefully you will join us in the crochet along, it should be fun!
Time to put the finishing touches on my crocheted shark for the summer window, he's so cute, and very big! Can't wait to see him finished! Happy knitting! Jen ~x~ One more sleep until Yarn Shop Day 2017! We've been preparing all week with mounting excitement. I wanted to take the opportunity to give you a sneak peak into some of the things that will be happening tomorrow. We will be having a lot of choice in our £1 and £1.50 boxes this year, there's sure to be something for everyone, and at this price you can knit yourself something special for under £10! There will be places for you to sit and knit and chat to other knitters, a special Yarn Shop Day knit session, and we will be serving tea/coffee and cake for only £2.50. There are 20 goody bags waiting for the first 20 customers to spend over £20, packaged in our new Sharon the Sheep Loyaty Bag, which entitles you to 10% off your shopping every time you bring it in to reuse in store. They are normally £1 and available to buy on the day too. If you're not one of the lucky 20 first customers, maybe you could win some Knit Pro goodies by leaving your email in the vase! Or you can buy a raffle ticket and maybe win one of 10 prizes! All proceeds of the raffle will go to the CASPA Autistic Girls Group. If you've read this blog post thinking that you can't pop along on Saturday, you can still take part as we will be extending all our offers, raffles and prize draws until the 31 May.
We are also pleased to announce that we have designed our very own blanket that uses the lovely Stylecraft Special DK, and will be running a crochet a long starting 1st June. More details in store. Better get back to getting everything ready, Hopefully see you tomorrow! Jen ~x~ |
