With the temperatures cooling, all my knitted things are slowly coming out. Socks came out in September as I can't abide cold feet. My hand knitted jumpers came out last week, and this weekend I hunted for my shawls and scarves. I decided I needed something new to cover my shoulders whilst I'm here in the shop that doesn't fall down when I'm helping customers find the right wool. Much perusing of the pattern books later, I have my selection : this pattern from Sirdar with the yarn I've had my eye on since it came in, Sirdar Aura in these beautiful blues and purples. I'm taking a gamble here... The pattern only comes in one size, and I am rather larger than a one-size-fits-all garment. I'm hoping that by knitting it in a chunky (instead of the double knit the pattern calls for) and 6mm needles it will come out a good size. I'll keep you posted!
I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you all about Socktober, our month long celebration of woolly socks! The sock knitting class is this Friday, and would be the perfect opportunity to learn to knit socks or learn a new way of doing them - Sharon has been enjoying knitting her socks magic loop since I showed her earlier this year. There's still a 10% discount on all our sock yarn, and if you add a picture of your knitted socks on Avicraft Wool's Facebook page you could be in the running to win a ball of Debbie Bliss Rialto Sock Yarn in the colour of your choice! So, book a class, or buy some yarn and make this the best Socktober yet! Jen ~x~
