Stylecraft ReCreate DK *** New Colours ***
Stylecraft ReCreate is a brand new yarn and is a part of Stylecraft's efforts to produce yarns with less impact on the environment. It is a blended yarn made entirely from recycled fibres. 40% wool from recycled garments, 30% acrylic also from recycled garments and 30% polyester that comes from shredded plastic bottles and is then spun.
100g ball of DK weight yarn, with 350m per ball. Tension on 4mm needles is 22sts and 30 rows for a 10x10cm square. 4mm hook.
I have used the pattern 9856 and made myself the cardigan in the ink colourway, as shown on the pattern. It was an enjoyable knit once the pattern is established, the yarn itself adding to the enjoyment. It has small coloured flecks of interest that don't cause stitches to bulge (I like my tension to be nice and even which is a struggle with some thick/thin yarns or yarns with big flecks so this yarn was perfect for me!). The finished cardigan was great, although I will use knit-in elastic for the cuffs next time as the balloon sleeve needs more than just a rib to keep it tight. I've started on a second one after a request from a family member who loved mine so much, she is having the same cardigan in the same colour!
